Another good week of wrestling for our kids. Thank you all for all your great communications about kids being absent or missing practice for appointments.
A couple quick reminders:
If we are at an away meet and you want to take your child home because of a special situation, please make arrangements with me first. Technically, you should be filling out a form that the activities office has on file, but I can handle an email or call.
NEVER take your child home with you without notifying me first.
Please wash all clothes after every practice and meet. If your child is not bringing practice clothes home every day, please question them. We need to have clean clothes. Remember, any skin rash that comes up should be reported to me immediately.
Tuesday we have a home meet with Northfield and Owatonna. This is our last home meet of the year. Please come and support our team.
I do need a few folks to work the meet. Please consider volunteering if you haven’t yet. We will train you!
Wednesday-Thursday- Regular practice
Friday we have a tournament at STMA. PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP IF YOUR CHILD IS NOT ATTENDING!! I NEED TO SEND IN A ROSTER.
Admission costs: Students - $4.00, Adults - $6.00, Senior Citizens - $5.00
Wrestling starts at 4:15 PM
For this tournament we will have one wrestler assigned by me to a weight class to wrestle in the “varsity” portion of the tournament. All other wrestlers will be put into a bracket to wrestle “exhibition” matches.
TAKEDOWN CANCER CLINIC DEC. 23RD 10:00 AM-3:00 PM.
As many of you know, my wife if just finishing her cancer treatments from her most current bout with breast cancer. She is doing well and doctors expect a full recovery now that her chemo and surgeries are done.
On Dec. 23rd, I have arranged a TakeDown Cancer Clinic at the Shakopee High School wrestling room. TakeDown Cancer is a program for wrestling teams to make money for the Randy Shaver Cancer Research and Community Fund. Some Shakopee wrestling boosters and I started TakeDown Cancer 4 years ago and we have help raise over $150,000 for cancer research and patient care. 100% of all money we make goes to the Randy Shaver Cancer Research and Community Fund.
I have a fantastic group of high school and college wrestlers as clinicians including Seth Gross (currently ranked #1 in the country from South Dakota State University), former Shakopee wrestlers that are now Minnesota Gophers or Minnesota State Mavericks, and Shakopee High School Wrestlers. See the registration form for details.
I have attached a registration form for you to fill out ASAP and get to me. I would like most of our jr. high kids to attend the clinic. Money goes to a great cause and the experience will be outstanding. If money is an issue, please contact me.
I am also looking for a couple of volunteers to work from 9:00-10:00 that morning for registration. Let me know if you are interested.
PARENT MEETING: This year's parent meeting is set for Monday, Oct. 30th at 7:30 PM at Shakopee Sr. High Commons Area.

We compete in the BML Conference that includes Burnsville, Prior Lake, Farmington, Faribault, New Prague, Northfield, Owatonna, and Lakeville.
