Parents, Wrestlers, Fans, Supporters:
Here’s a quick look at where we are and what’s coming up.
Thursday’s night’s dual meet victory over Prior Lake was tremendous!
It was strange to have no wrestling on Saturday – I practiced headlocks on my dog just to feel normal. Hopefully most members of the team used the time to rest injuries, do homework, and spend quality time with the family.
Practice at normal times Mon/Tue/Wed/Thu this week.
Friday, Jan. 22nd, we travel to Rosemount. The bus will leave from the HS at 3:05. We will dismiss HS wrestlers from class at 2:50.
Weigh-ins are at 4:00pm, wrestling will begin at 5:00. There will be two mats: Varsity and JV will wrestle at the same time.
Round 1 5:00pm Rosemount VS Shakopee
Round 2 immediately following Round #1 Shakopee VS Eastview
Saturday, Jan. 23rd: We made a decision as a coaching staff to take the Minneota Duals off the schedule. One of the three other teams pulled out last week, and Minneota could not get a replacement. Faced with the prospect of traveling 5 hours round trip for two matches, we thought it was best to stay home. We tried to get into a different event, but it’s pretty difficult with late notice. Wrestlers with high match count will still end up with 33-35 matches on the season, but it’s unfortunate for those who could use a bit more mat time. We will plan to practice at 9 am on that day.
Looking ahead – although there is no competition scheduled for Saturday, January 30th, all HS wrestlers (and managers) are expected to work at the youth tournament that day. More information will be coming, but the day should last from approximately 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Our service as referees, scorekeepers, and other are critical to the success of the tournament, so plan your schedule around that commitment.
As always, keep the lines of communication open and let us know if you have any concerns or questions.
