Spring time equals continued Saber success on the mat
It was only a few months ago that the Saber wrestling team captured Shakopee High School’s first ever MSHSL State Championship. That championship can be partly credited to the off-season training and competing Saber wrestlers put in each spring and summer.
This year is no different.
The Sabers will more than likely start the season again ranked as the number one team in 3A. Because the expectations will be high, Saber wrestlers have been very active this spring knowing there will be a big target on their backs come next fall.
“That’s the challenge that we as a team are going to have to understand. We need to keep improving even in the off season. It does not matter if it is lifting, conditioning, training on the mat or competing.”, said Paxton Creese.
“I compete year-round and love the Olympic styles. But I am really encouraged to see more of my high school teammates wrestling this off season.”, added Creese.
Spring and Summer wrestling, particularly national tournament competition, is some of the best training for making champions.
