Shakopee senior Alex Lloyd became a three-time state champion on Saturday night.
Lloyd won his third state wrestling title with a convincing 6-4 win against previously unbeaten and defending state champion Tyler Eischens of Anoka.
Lloyd built up an early lead in the first period with a slick takedown of Eischens, which he turned into back points and a 4-0 lead.
Eischens earned an escape late in the first period and in the second period to cut the lead to 4-2.
Lloyd earned another takedown in the third period for a 6-2 lead and he held off Eischens to win 6-4.
Lloyd reached the finals by beating Lakeville South's Willie Bastyr 13-6 in the semifinals. Lloyd lost to Bastyr in the section finals.
Second
Paxton Creese and Ben Lunn both lost in the state finals to earn second place finishes.
Creese lost 6-3 to Maple Grove's Joey Thompson in the 106 pound final while Lunn lost 5-4 to Forest Lake's Derrick Cardinal.
