Lloyd wins Dream Team matchup

Senior Alex Lloyd defeated his opponent Christian Hunt of Indiana 8-5 at the 2018 Cliff Keen Dream Team Classic. The event showcases some of the best Seniors in the state of Indiana take versus some of the best seniors from around the country in their own backyard.

Alex Lloyd who just won his third MSHSL State Championship and is scheduled to wrestle for the Jackrabbits of South Dakota State University this fall was selected to be the 145-pound wrestler for Team USA.

The match started with Lloyd taking an early lead on a takedown twelve seconds into the match. Lloyd allowed Hunt to escape to take him down a second time increasing his lead 4-1.

Lloyd released Hunt again to score another takedown before the end of the first period with a score of 6-2.

Hunt chose down and Lloyd released Hunt to bring the score to 6-3 in favor of the Saber.

Hunt responded quickly by scoring a takedown on a miscue by Lloyd close the gap to 6-5.

Lloyd quickly escaped, and the second period came to an end with Lloyd up 7-5.

Lloyd chose bottom in the third period and added another escape putting the score at 8-5.

The two wrestlers finished the rest of the period on their feet with Lloyd winning the decision victory over his opponent.
