Sabers sink the Lakers

The Shakopee Sabers hit the road Thursday night for a Section 2AAA matchup against Prior Lake at Prior Lake High School.

The number one ranked AAA Sabers (29-3) came into the match winners of their last seven duals.

At 106 pound Pierson Manville got things started with a 5-0 victory over #8 ranked Teagan Block.

Shakopee picked up two forfeits at 113 and 120 pounds.

Senior Tyler Jones added a quick technical fall over Cory St Martin to push the Sabers comfortably ahead 20-0.

Shakopee dropped the next two matches with decision losses by Riley Quern and John Kroll.

Sam Treml got the Sabers back in the plus column with a 3-0 decision at 145 and was followed with wins by Brandon Kidd, Jadon Hellerud and Connor Raines.

Shakopee forfeited at 182 and lost by fall at 195.

Freshman Jade Trelstad earned a decision at 220 and Shakopee capped off the dual with a fall by Tommy Johnson.

BY THE NUMBERS

Tommy Johnson added another fall to his team leading total of 19.

This is the second meeting between Manville and Block. Manville owns the season series 2-0.

Shakopee season dual record is 30-3 with losses to out of state teams only.

Sabers are back on the mat Thursday January 31st against Eagan. This will be the final home dual of the season. Thursday's Varsity event starts at 5:00 pm  and is both Senior Night and the annual Takedown Cancer event.
