Jim Jackson has been the Shakopee High School wrestling Head Coach for four years and in that short time he has help steer his team to a third consecutive South Suburban Conference title.

The Sabers locked up that championship last night with a 54-18 win over host Farmington.

“We are doing good things right now. Wrestling is tough sport, it’s a long season of grinding daily. The key is peaking at the right time and rising to the occasion. Everyone is doing their part right now to make that happen. Coaches are focused on what needs to happen at practice. The wrestlers are beginning to taper into sections. Our captains are being leaders. “, added Jackson.

The Sabers started early in a 5-0 hole with a loss at 106-pounds but quickly rebounded with a tech fall by Pierson Manville then four consecutive falls by Paxton Creese, Ben Lunn, John Kroll and Rylie Quern.

Farmington was able to stop that run with a 13-5 major decision win at 145-pounds by Nate Engle over Cole Malone followed by an 8-6 win by Austin Hamel over DJ Smith.

Shakopee was able to then put the dual out of reach with a fall by senior Brandon Kidd.

Juniors Connor Raines added a 12-0 major over Parker Venz and Jack Casey a 9-5 decision over Luke Weierke.

Jade Trelstad and Tommy Johnson added two more falls at 220 and 285 respectively.

BY THE NUMBERS

Saber wrestlers combined for 7 falls in the win.

As a team, Shakopee pushed their Minnesota dual record to 21-0
